In England there are two schemes available that will pay farmers for environmental management. Entry Level Scheme (ELS) is the basic scheme that is open to everyone, with acceptance guaranteed providing all the entry requirements are met (there is also an organic version of this scheme). The Higher Level Scheme (HLS) is a more comprehensive scheme, with more money available. It aims to deliver significant environmental benefits in high priority situations.
