Kingshay’s recent Forage Costings Report clearly showed grazed grass to be a very cost effective forage. A good quality grazing sward can produce a litre of milk for about 3p compared to upwards of 9ppl from bought in concentrates. Poor quality swards are expensive but their production potential may be restored by oversowing which offers a cheaper alternative to a complete reseed. See our Technical Note for more information.
