Neospora is one of the most recently identified causes of cattle abortion, causing over 12.5% of all abortions (6000 per year). A Neospora-infected cow is three times more likely to abort than an uninfected cow. Control strategies look expensive but the cost of Neospora outweighs the cost of eliminating it from the herd. See our Neospora Farming Note for all the details. |
