This module covers health and welfare management within the poultry industry, which includes the details of legislative requirements, codes of practice, Lion Code and industry standards, record keeping, emergency procedures, awareness of the five freedoms and identifications of normal and abnormal behaviour.
Causes of stress in poultry and identification of birds that need culling including the accommodation and equipment required to maintain bird welfare and enrichment is also discussed, amongst monitoring environmental and litter conditions, range management and bird handling.
