Emerging Diseases Dairy Insight

Climate change means that Great Britain is at heightened risk of vector-borne diseases that would have previously been limited to northern Africa and the Mediterranean. At the same time, we need to be aware of the continued threat of Foot & Mouth Disease and potential spill-over of Avian Flu into cattle. The key is to be vigilant, operate best practice biosecurity and engage with vets to ensure that any outbreaks are identified and squashed immediately to avoid any detrimental impact on production and trade.

This Dairy Insight explores the increased threat of vector-borne diseases to cattle and farming operations. It outlines the potential impact of various diseases and emphasises the importance of implementing effective preventive measures.
