Cattle Emergency First Aid Dairy Insight
Most farmers will be proficient and competent in dealing with a cattle emergency, be it a difficult calving, bloat or staggers. However, not everyone in the farm team may be as confident, and even the most experienced stockperson could benefit from a refresher. The main thing is to be honest about your capabilities in providing first aid, know when to call other staff or a vet for assistance, and ensure appropriate ongoing training.
This Dairy Insight explores the eight most common Cattle Emergencies on UK farms and provides guidance on how to address them promptly and effectively.
